Recap of March 2013

I don't know why, but I don't get a whole lot of pictures in January and February.  I'm thinking that it may be because from Summer through Christmas I'm constantly snapping pictures.  I think January and February are break time for me from having my camera permanently attached to my face.

Once March gets here, I'm ready to break out my camera yet again.  Get ready for a ride on the wild side.  It was a crazy, busy month for us.
It's crawfish season!!!!  When spring rolls around in S.E. Texas and S.W. Louisiana, we break out the crawfish pots and crank up the Cajun music.  This is us at Larry's French Market.  Love it!

Spring Break is in March - a teacher's favorite time of the year.  Not only do we have a week off, but the countdown begins for the end of the school year. Here's what we did:

I brought the girls to Bounce Zone for some fun outside of the house.  I couldn't get them to both be still, so all of the pictures I have of them together, one of their faces is blurry.

They love the big slide.  It's Katie's jumper thingie of choice.  Kinsley got to play on this for the first time.

Can you tell by the look on her face that she absolutely had a blast???  They ask to go back every weekend.

Worn out!

The next day we invited my niece, Breanna, over to go to The Heritage Festival, for rides and good food.

My other niece came with her parents.  Excited much???

This one cracks me up.  My niece, Breanna, the drama queen.

Both of my babies rode this thing.  I just knew that they were going to freak out and want off,
but they loved it.
My sister, Breanna's mother, showed up with her two youngest girls.  This is Journey, my sweet 1 year old miracle baby.  She gives the best slobbery kisses.

Kinsley and Chloe - 9 months apart.  Best friends for life.

The carousel is Daddy's job.  It goes way too fast for me and makes my stomach turn.  Plus, I'm too short to keep Kinsley up there when the horse goes up.

Kinsley's first time on the ferris wheel.  You can't tell by her face in this picture, but she LOVED it.  She kept standing up and hollering down to her Daddy to look at her.  It was so stinkin' cute.

The following Saturday, after Spring Break, we had a crawfish boil to celebrate my
dear hubby's 36th birthday.

Kinsley with my newest niece, Ava.

What we do to entertain 7 little girls.

We love our crawfish!

Eben's birthday present.  He got all kinds of goodies in this Bud Light box, plus a fridge full of beer.

Eben's requested birthday cookie.  He likes the cookie and we like the icing.  We compromise.

That week of school was our Easter parties.  I got to sneak over to Katie's class and take a picture of her while my class was going back in after their Easter egg hunt.  I hated missing her party,
but what can you do?

Since we were off for Good Friday, my sister invited us over to barbeque and dye Easter eggs.

Once they were dry, they wanted to eat the eggs.

The Easter Eve we always do our own Easter eggs for the Easter Bunny to hide for us.  I love this picture of Miss Katie.

Daddy's job is to help with the eggs while I sit back and document it.
Momma is always behind the camera.

Miss Kinsley wasn't feeling good and ended up falling asleep before we started dying eggs.  I was so sad that she was missing it, but she really didn't feel good.

That was March for us.  I'll be posting separately about Easter.  I took 500 pictures Easter Sunday.  It's going to be so hard to choose the ones I want to use.

Big Time Failure

Well, it's official.  I'm a failure when it comes to starting the Proverbs 31 Wife challenge.  I seriously have had no time to start it.  I'm thinking that I may have to wait for school to be over.  I have been going to bed late each night this week because of work.  I've been waking up late because I stayed up late the night before.  Ugh!  I will do it.  I just don't have time to focus on it right now.  I'm not saying that I'm not focusing on my marriage.  In fact, just the opposite has occured.

Eben's birthday was Monday.  We celebrated all weekend.  We had a crawfish boil on Saturday with a few of our family members.  I scrubbed the house down Saturday morning and it smelled amazing, which is one of the things my dear hubby loves.  I had Cajun music on the radio and the patio was all set up when he got home.  Thanks to my dear brother-in-law.  We had a great time with family, good food, and good music.

Sunday, we didn't go to church again.  I'm failing at that too.  I had every intention of going, but with everyone over the night before I needed the entire day to go grocery shopping, get Easter stuff, get my sister's bday present, as well as Eben's, and to get ready for the next day.  I also spent the day cleaning up the big mess that was made the night before.

I had seen a pin on Pinterest about a gift for husbands.  This link will take you directly to Keep Calm and Carry On, which is the blog the pin belonged to.  I had to make one for my husband.

The Bud Light box is supposed to be like an Easter basket.  There's Easter grass at the bottom of the box.  I then added a package of chocolate chip cookies (his fav), a peanut butter Easter bunny, a poof, body wash, Gas X (to go along with the card that the girls got him...they thought it was hilarious), razor blades (expensive), a garden gnome, a timer thing that waters his garden on schedule, and swim trunks.  The girls wanted to get him a football, but when we went to the Dallas Cowboys Store they were $100, so they got him a Dallas Cowboys teddy bear instead.  I also loaded the outside refrigerator with beer.  He was a very happy camper.

Sunday night I fixed him a wonderful meal of meatloaf, mashed potato bake, and Cajun green beans.  When we were blessing the food, we thanked God for sending him to us.

On Monday, his real birthday, I got him a cookie cake (his fav) with a very small amount of chocolate icing on it.  We invited my sister and her family over to enjoy it with us.
I'd say, his birthday was a huge success!

A Little Set Back

I had every intention of starting my Proverbs 31 Wife challenge on Monday.  Unfortunately a few things popped up that prevented me from starting.

First off, I was coming off of spring break mode.  You know, the mode where you sleep later than normal and go to bed way past your usual bed time.  I usually wake up at 4 AM on school days, but Monday I woke up at 5:45.  That gave me 45 minutes to chug some coffee, jump in the shower, get dressed, and out the door by 6:30.

Then, I text my dear hubby to ask how Kinsley's first day of speech went.  He said, "She didn't go.  We were sitting in front of the school at 8:00.  She said that she needed to pee, so I drove home.  Then she said she needed to poop and she never did."  Needless to say, Kinsley missed her first day of speech.  I was furious.  Then he tells me that the daycare can't drop her off or pick her up when he can't do either.  I immediately started to panic.  But then it hit me.  Dear hubby doesn't have to be at work until 9:00, and he's the boss.  She has speech Monday and Wednesdays from 8:15 to 8:45.  The daycare is across the street from the school she would be going to for speech, and we live exactly 1 minute and 30 seconds from the school.  Why in the world can't he do it on those days????  UGH!!!  FRUSTRATED much?

This morning, on my way to work I called my dear hubby and asked him to take out the pork chops for dinner tonight.  I told him to put them back in the refrigerator before he left.  When I walked in after school this afternoon, guess what was not out of the freezer.  Yep.  The porkchops.  And the house was a disaster.  I immediately started washing dishes and cleaning up.  He walks in 30 minutes later asking me what's for dinner.

This is going to be tough. It's hard for me to bite my tongue sometimes.  Not that I fight with my husband.  We don't usually fight.  We're more of the silent treatment type, but I do make little jabs sometimes.

So, I'll be starting the process next week.  I already need a vacation from this week and it's only Tuesday.

Thankful Thursday

Today was a very important day for my hubs.  He is the GM of a local cemetary.  He designed and had made a Veterans Memorial.  He is so proud of it and we are so proud of him.  He joined forces with the American Legion to have a dedication for the memorial, which was sheduled today.

The weather didn't seem to want to cooperate with us, but God is always in control.  It never rained and no one was struck by lightening.  The funnel cloud that was reported was over 10 miles away from us, so we were doing pretty good.  In fact, it was like the sun was right over us, shining down on us during the ceremony with huge dark blue clouds lingering in the background.  It really made for some pretty pictures.  The fact that the wind was blowing, made it even better because we were all pretty sweaty out there.

Here are a few pictures that I took during the ceremony.

Kinsley thought this guy was pretty interesting.  She must like Navy men....LOL.

Katie asked what the headstones were for.  She said, "Are they to keep them in the ground? Is God in there?"  She was pretty fascinated by it all.

I love this picture.  Kinsley's allergies have been acting up again.
She was sneezing and coughing the entire time.

The Color Guard with the big bad storm in front of them.
They actually did the Three-Volley Salute.  Scared me and the girls half to death.  I didn't even think they'd really shoot the guns, but they did.  Kinsley started screaming.  It was a little comical.
This fine man played Taps.  It was awesome.

Eben being presented the United States flag.  He was so proud and we're so proud of him.

Old Glory flying in the breeze.
Eben being interviewed by Fox 4 News.

After spending some time with Daddy after the dedication, we left before the weather got worse.  One of our Bucket List items includes eating at Rao's Bakery for lunch and a dessert.  That will never happen again.  I almost fell over when I received my bill.  We spent $30 on 3 chicken salad sandwiches that included chips, 1 chocolate milk, 1 bottle of water, and one small fruit bowl.

Katie has got to make a silly face everytime I pick up the camera.
We sat near the water fountain and they made a wish with nickels.  I didn't have any pennies.  Did you know that Canada has stopped the production of their pennies?  They cost more to make than they are worth.
I'm loving this picture.  I may have to frame this one.
After we let our food go down, we each picked out a dessert.  Didn't I mention earlier that my diet had been thrown out the window the day before?  Well, it carried over into today.
Katie likes anything chocolate.

Kinsley likes anything strawberry.
Neither of them finished anything they ate, so they are having Rao's leftovers for dinner tonight.
I truly can't eat anything else, especially since I topped off lunch with:

a fruit tart!

This was them picking out what they wanted.  Doesn't this look like a dream????

They have life size statues of the Blues Brothers in the cafe.  They both wanted to go over to see them.  As they got closer, they got scared to get near them.  I was cracking up.  They were both waiting for them to move.  We decided that we would sacrifice Bear (the little pink thing on his leg is Bear).
Once Bear made it out alive, both girls decided that it was safe to stand near them.  I quickly got a picture and we were out of there.

Now we're home and they are eating apples.  Don't eat the expenisve lunch and dessert momma splurged on you, but eat an apple instead.  I guess the dentist would appreciate that.
